North Korea Launches Cruise Missiles from Sinpo-Class Submarine

cruise missile launch from submarine

With their long range and high precision, they are useful for taking on highly defended targets, and a salvo of cruise missiles will typically be fired to suppress defenses ahead of a strike by manned aircraft. On occasion, as in the 2018 strikes on Syria, they are used as a low-cost, low-risk alternative to airstrikes. The Oscar class, Soviet designations Project 949 Granit and Project 949A Antey (NATO reporting names Oscar I and Oscar II respectively), are a series of nuclear-powered cruise missile submarines designed in the Soviet Union for the Soviet Navy. Two other vessels were slated to be modernized since at least 2017 as Project 949AM, to extend their service life and increase combat capabilities but it is unclear whether work continues as of 2023. North Korea in 2023 launched what it called its first operational nuclear attack submarine, which analysts said appeared to be modified from an existing submarine and likely designed to carry ballistic and cruise missiles.

Tomahawk Long-Range Cruise Missile

Once all those stars align, the missile finally streaks toward its deadly destination.

U.S. Navy

But everything has to function perfectly for the missile to hit a target, and a glitch at any stage can be disastrous. Malicious software, or even hardware which interferes with the missile controls, is a cheap way of disabling a nuclear deterrent. As the missile approaches, it ejects twelve independent warheads at different targets. Each warhead has a yield of 100 kilotons—six times greater than the Hiroshima bomb.

More Projects

This puts all of the regime’s military sites, military industrial facilities, and other targets in the south and east within striking range, as well as some of its main nuclear sites. Although the TLAM-E does not have significant hard-target penetration capabilities, its multi-effect programmable warhead still allows for some degree of “bunker busting,” especially when several missiles hit a single point sequentially. Typically, U.S. submarine deployments are not announced in advance, especially when the vessels are entering a potentially hot zone of operation that may require them to rely on stealth, their main operational advantage. Yet conventionally armed guided missile submarines are an exception—their presence is occasionally made known as a show of deterrence. Naval Forces Central Command announced on April 8 that the USS Florida (SSGN-728) had been deployed to the Middle East “to help ensure regional maritime security and stability.” The Florida is one of only four guided missile/special forces submarines in U.S.

AUKUS Underwater Capability Developments Target Torpedo-tube UUV System

By 1953 the USS Tunny had been adapted into a true missile submarine, but firing the Regulus cruise missile was still an awkward process. The submarine had to surface, then the missile was manually loaded from storage onto a launch rail on the submarine's deck before it could fire. During the whole process, the surfaced submarine was visible and vulnerable to attack by enemy aircraft.

Finding Its Target

Like an old-time sailor, this sensor gets a location fix by measuring the position of the stars to provide fine detail correction. This correction may be needed because theorientation of the submarine may not be precisely known at launch. A compass can be thrown by magnetic disturbances, and conditions at Earth's poles (where subs sometimes operate) don't help things either. Even odd gravitational anomalies may be great enough to throw the missile miles off course, so missiles—as well as Navy seamen—are well-versed in reading the stars. According to a recent leaked report, a British Trident missile launched off the coast of Florida in June 2016 as part of a testing program was supposed to head east toward a target site near Africa.

This trial launch coincided with the beginning of the large-scale exercise “Freedom Shield” between South Korea and the United States. Ahead of this exercise, South Korea has revealed that it carried out another exercise named “Teak Knife” with USFK (United States Forces Korea) forces which mainly focused on practicing precision strikes on North Korea’s secretive nuclear facilities. Robert M. Soofer is a senior fellow in the Forward Defense program of the Atlantic Council’s Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security, where he leads the Nuclear Strategy Project. He served as deputy assistant secretary of defense for nuclear and missile defense policy from 2017 to 2021. Finally, senior US military leadership must stay focused on this project—and on achieving it in parallel with other projects.

Tomahawk launch platforms

Amid rising tensions with Tehran and its proxies, the United States is sending a message by openly deploying one of its few guided missile submarines to the region. Missile-firing submarines would also add a maritime threat to the North’s growing collection of solid-fuel weapons fired from land vehicles that are designed to overwhelm the missile defenses of South Korea, Japan and the United States. North Korea’s official newspaper Rodong Sinmun published photos of what appeared to be at least two missiles fired separately. Both created grayish-white clouds as they broke the water surface and soared into the air at an angle of around 45 degrees, which possibly suggests they were fired from torpedo launch tubes.

cruise missile launch from submarine

The Royal Navy's latest botched test has only renewed calls from nuclear opponents who would like to see these destructive monsters of the deep retired completely. But as long as nuclear weapons exist, it's likely that that the Trident is going anywhere anytime soon. The remaining rocket stages still need to ignite, separate, and remain on the correct trajectory. The missile slows down as it leaves the water and gravity tries to pull it back down. Motion sensors monitor the changes as the missiles hang in the air for a brief moment before the first of three rocket stages ignites.

MBDA has developed the NCM (Naval Cruise Missile) to meet the requirement issued by the French Ministry of Defence for a long-range cruise missile capable of being launched from surface and subsurface vessels. This French programme is known as MdCN or Missile de Croisière Naval, intended for the French Navy’s FREMM frigates and the Barrracuda submarine. Leader Kim Jong Un supervised the test of the missile, called Pulhwasal-3-31, which is identical to the strategic cruise missiles that the North said last week were under development. Experts claim that this launch somehow confirmed North Korea’s formidable will to obtain different launching platforms to fortify its abilities to bypass detections from Seoul, as South Korea still heavily relies on its ally, the U.S., when it comes to missile detection and intelligence. When fully submerged, Sinpo-class submarines can travel relatively long distance and reliably execute precision strikes against strategic US bases in Indo-Pacific region – namely Guam and even Hawaii.

The U.S. Navy has never fired a GPS-equipped Trident, largely out of fear of possible GPS tampering. It takes a lot of engineering and rocket science to ensure a missile gets from an underwater launch tube to streaking through low-Earth orbit at more than 13,000 mph—and sometimes, that delicate dance of physics can go wrong. Mr Kim separately inspected the construction of a nuclear submarine and discussed issues related to the manufacturing of other types of new warships, KCNA said but gave no details. Mr Kim called the test a success, KCNA said, “which is of strategic significance in carrying out the plan...for modernising the army which aims at building a powerful naval force”. The two-way satellite communications are used to perform post-launch mission changes throughout the flight. The on-board camera provides imagery of the target to the commanders before the strike.

RGM / UGM-109D (Block III TLAM-D) is a submunitions dispenser variant armed with 166 combined-effects bomblets. There was scepticism over the real-world utility of such a vessel, especially compared to the more advanced land-based missile systems, because its diesel propulsion generates noise and is limited in range, according to weapons experts. Converted Ohio-class submarines are also equipped with a thirty-ton dry deck shelter. This gives them the ability to deliver and recover SEAL commando teams on clandestine missions using submersibles or small boats. These clashes coincided with a series of Israeli standoff precision airstrikes against IRGC and Hezbollah targets in Syria beginning on March 30.

He said then that the country was pursuing a nuclear-propelled submarine and that it plans to remodel existing submarines and surface vessels so they can handle nuclear weapons. In recent years, North Korea has tested a variety of missiles designed to be fired from submarines as it pursues the ability to conduct nuclear strikes from underwater. In theory, such capacity would bolster its deterrent by ensuring a survivable capability to retaliate after absorbing a nuclear attack on land. At the end of the 1950s, weapons systems still had yet to master the tricky science of shooting a rocket through water. But technology was progressing quickly, and at the turn of the decade, the Navy developed the Polaris A1 Fleet ballistic missile.

Instead, the missile allegedlyveered east toward the U.S. before it was destroyed. Raytheon received a $349m contract for phase two of the Maritime Strike Tomahawk Rapid Deployment Capability to improve the Tomahawk cruise missile system in August 2019. The US signed a foreign military sales (FMS) agreement with the UK in 1995 to supply 65 Tomahawks for use with the Royal Navy nuclear submarines. RGM / UGM-109C (Block III TLAM-C) is a conventional unitary variant, carrying a 1,000lb-class warhead.

The earliest versions of this technology—such as what went into the Nazi V-1 and V-2s, proto-cruise missiles used to bomb London—were used as a design starting point. These missiles had a range of just a few hundred miles, which meant you needed an aircraft or ship to carry them within range. A submarine with a capable missile carrier would be the perfect weapon, able to get weapons of mass destruction within incredibly close range of the enemy without being detected. A $25.9m contract for Tomahawk missile composite capsule launching systems (C/CLS) was awarded in December 2014. The C/CLS is integrated with the nuclear-powered fast-attack submarines and nuclear-powered guided-missile submarines, allowing the missile to be launched from submarines. Central Command chief Gen. Michael Kurilla was given a tour of the ballistic missile submarine USS West Virginia in the Arabian Sea.

17 Cruise Cabin Essentials Every Cruiser Needs

things you need for a cruise

Newer cruise ships are designed so every cabin has enough electrical outlets and USB ports conveniently located throughout the room. You'll want to pack your tablet, portable video game system and e-reader for both your pre-cruise travel and the sailing itself. Or, skip the tech and bring a few books, as many cruise ships no longer offer onboard libraries. These days, almost all of us check our phones for the time. But when you are in port, it’s often easier just to carry a cheap wristwatch. That way you can be sure you get back before the ship leaves port, as well as keep track of when any scheduled activities onboard are about to happen.

Apple AirTags are tiny tracking devices that you can use to monitor the location of your belongings; you simply use the Find My app on your iPhone to do this. Utilizing Bluetooth technology, these AirTags are the perfect solution for you to place in your suitcase to bring on your cruise. It comes in 15 colors and offers an interchangeable adjustable strap to wear as a crossbody. Cruise ships have a lot of amazing amenities, but their hair dryers aren’t one of them. They are usually basic models with one setting where you hold down the “on” button for the duration of a blow dry.

Best Cruise Packing List (30 Cruise Essentials + What NOT to Bring!)

You can see that outlet space can be at a premium in a small cruise cabin. One important tip — no matter which sort of fan you bring, you want something compact. Remember that you’re going to have to lug it to the ship and back home. There are a lot of things many people wouldn’t think to pack that can be extremely useful. That’s because cruising is different from any other vacation.

Pack your coffee mug to ensure you get your daily dose of caffeine. Unless you want to spit bits of wood every time you sip your wine, pack a corkscrew in your suitcase. Don’t carry it in your carry on, to keep it from being confiscated. Pack an extra bag or a small suitcase to carry all the things you purchase during your cruise. Similar to water and soda carry your own snacks such as popcorn, candy bars, crackers or healthier alternatives for kids.

A great way to keep your cruise cabin organized and store dirty clothes is to bring along a collapsible mesh laundry hamper. This one actually folds up super small so it’s easy and light to pack for your cruise. Don’t forget to pack shoes for daytime activities and evenings. You don’t need a pair of shoes for every cruise outfit, but you do want to pack comfortable shoes for the activities you plan to do. Like hotels, cruise ships typically provide soap and shampoo in your cabin. However, it's hard to know whether your hair will respond well to the onboard products or if you'll hate the scent.

things you need for a cruise

Pack casual light pants for daytime and offshore activities. You can’t go wrong with khaki and linen pants for your tropical-weather cruise. Most cruise lines have formal evening themes with strict dress codes. Ensure you carry at least 2 dress shirts for two formal wear evenings. This is a no-brainer, carry your wallet to store your cash and important documents.

Aside from what I saw at sea, I also used them on excursions to get a better glimpse of a grizzly bear and some Dall sheep in Denali National Park & Preserve. Since this pair is waterproof and fog proof, I was able to see each animal clearly despite the steady rainfall and foggy conditions. The durable design protects my phone in case of a fumble thanks to the drop protection of 10 feet.

What to Wear on a Caribbean Cruise

The good thing is that swimsuits don’t take a lot of room in luggage, so even if you don’t use it, it’s not a big deal. While Alaska isn’t hot, it’s still easy to get dehydrated — especially if you decide to do a strenuous excursion like hiking. It’s a good idea to keep a water bottle with you on your trip. The cruise ships don’t have bottles for you to take ashore and bottled water isn’t always available if you get off the beaten path. It’s surprising, but most cruise ship cabins have only 2 electric plugs.

Take a look at the list below to help you what kind of travel wear to pack. You may be really good at packing but even the savviest cruise-goers are bound to forget some crucial items. Packing for a cruise trip is not the same as packing for other vacations. Cruise trips offer varying activities which cut across a broad range of outdoor activities and social events. Along with a good suitcase and carry on bag, a garment bag is a must-have if you’re bringing dressy clothes or formal wear on your cruise.

Once you get onboard your cruise ship, packing cubes make it SO much easier to get settled into your stateroom. You can whip out your packed cubes and simply place them in the drawers and shelves of your stateroom. As such, I always have my go-to list of essential things that I bring on my cruise vacations. While packing, I go through my list of everything essential that I need to bring.

I also recommend bringing a travel-sized air freshener for the bathroom – there isn’t a lot of ventilation and you can’t simply open the window like you would at home. You might also want to bring along a sun hat or a visor, especially for children who will spend all day in the sun! It’s much easier to prevent a sunburn than it is to deal with one. In case of rain, stay dry with a small umbrella or light raincoat, and prevent bug bites with some travel-sized mosquito repellent. Likewise, I always bring my COVID-10 vaccination certification when I cruise.

If you’re going on a cruise, you’ll want to pack towel clips to keep your towels from blowing away with the sea breeze. Pack a few bandaids in a baggy and throw them into your cruise shore excursion bag. Use baggies to pack a few snacks for your children from the buffet.

The cruise expects you to dress formally for dinner in such evenings. Most cruises rent out a tuxedo but it’s rather expensive, so just carry yours instead. This may seem obvious, but you would be surprised at how many people forget to pack essential clothing attire for a cruise vacation.

These 2 laundry items are very useful when traveling, but especially on a cruise ship when you don’t have easy access to laundry facilities. Shoe bags are a great packing organizing tool for cruises and any travel. Don’t forget to pack at least one pair of flip flops for any cruise. You’ll want to have flip flops to wear at the pool deck, thermal spa, in your cabin and on your cruise ship balcony.

Disney Magic Cabins & Staterooms on Cruise Critic

disney cruise cabins

Some rooms in this category offer partial views, but all provide a comfortable and relaxing space. Generally speaking, rooms located on higher decks or the middle of each deck plan (known as midship or mid) are considered more preferable than lower decks or staterooms that are forward (front of the ship) or aft (rear of the ship). Which side of the ship the room is on (port side or starboard side) generally does not factor into stateroom category. Some ships offer cabins with direct access to the promenade deck, while the largest ships, including MSC World Europa, offer balconies overlooking an internal courtyard or promenade. Choosing your cruise ship cabin or stateroom is an essential part of planning a dream cruise vacation.

Category 7 – Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Navigator’s Verandah (All Disney Cruise Ships)

The shower ceiling will also be a bit of a problem for taller cruisers. Two in-shower retractable clotheslines provide amble space for drying the swimsuits of a family of four. Toiletries include bar soap, shampoo, conditioner, body wash and body lotion. Deluxe Inside Staterooms have a split bathroom, with one half having a sink and a shower, and the other half having a toilet and a sink. A, B, and C subcategories are assigned according to their locations, with A subcategories on upper decks or closer to midship, while C subcategories are on lower decks. Category four, five, six, and seven are verandah staterooms.

Disney Magic Accessible Cabins

Disney Cruise Lines are perfect for families looking to enjoy quality time together. But with so many different categories and subcategories, how do you know which stateroom is right for you? Let’s investigate how to select the best staterooms on a Disney cruise for your family vacation. If you have more flexibility in your budget, consider what’s important to you in accommodation.

Category R – Walter E. Disney Suite & Roy O. Disney Suite

Category 5 – Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah (All Disney Cruise Ships)

The Category 9 Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom sleeps 3 or 4 people and is the same size as the category 10’s with a similar layout and features. The Disney Dream and Fantasy Rooms are 204 sq ft, 214 on Disney Magic and Wonder, and 218 sq ft on Disney Wish. On the Magic and Wonder ships, the 9D staterooms on deck 1 have two small portholes instead of one large porthole. Category 6 staterooms are located near the back of the ship’s upper deck. Accommodations are nearly identical to those found in Category 5 but have either an undersized, obstructed, or white wall verandah. Those who book a Category 6 cabin on the Magic and Wonder will have full white wall railings, while on the Dream and Fantasy, the white wall only extends halfway up the railing.

There are two bedrooms, a living room and dining room, three full bathrooms, and an impressive 1,507 square feet of living space. The wet bar is perfect for entertaining, and the large private verandah with a whirlpool tub is the ideal place to relax. The master bedrooms are both on the Penthouse's upper level and have walk-in closets, King-size double beds, floor-ceiling windows (overlooking the living area below).

For those requiring more space, Disney offers Concierge Suites, as well as roomy Concierge Family Cabins, located on Decks 11 and 12. The decor focuses more on earth tones (browns and muted sea blues), versus the bright red-and-blue nautical hues of the standard cabins. A king bed, a single convertible sofa, and an upper-berth single pull-down bed make up this room, which can accommodate up to five guests. There is also a wall pull-down bed in rooms that sleep five.

Disney Wish cabins and suites

Looks-wise, inside, oceanview and balcony (a.k.a. verandah) cabins on Disney Magic all share the same nautical color scheme of navy blues, reds and whites. These cabins also include pull-across privacy curtains that separate the main bed from the sofa bed. Most 1-Bedroom Suites are with connecting doors, Queen bed (convertible to twins), sitting/lounge area with double sofabed, 1 pull-down bed (in the living room), walk-in closet, 2 bathrooms (one with a whirlpool hot-tub). Standard Interior cabins are without windows and have a Queen-size bed (convertible to twins), single sofabed, upper bunk bed (in quads), full bathroom (washbasin-shower-bathtub-toilet). If your family group books connecting balcony cabins, the partition can be opened to form one large balcony. Family balcony cabins measure 299 square feet (including veranda) and sleep up to five.

The main bathrooms each have rain-head showers, double-sink vanities, spa bathtubs. Two bedrooms with Queen-size bed, two and a half bathrooms, whirlpool tub, living area with convertible sofa, walk-in closet, wet bar, VCR, private verandah, Concierge Service (sleeps 7) 945 sq. Queen-size bed, living area with double convertible sofa, wall pull-down bed, two bathrooms, walk-in closet, wet bar, VCR, verandah, Concierge Service (sleeps 4, some sleeps 5) 622 sq. Queen-size bed or two twin beds and single convertible sofa, privacy divider, bath (Sleeps 3, some sleeps 4 with an upper berth pull-down bed) 184 sq.

These staterooms also benefit less foot traffic and noises. For comparison, most Category 10 cabins are without windows and located on lower decks (many under nightclubs). Of Deck 5's "Secret Porthole cabins", 2 are connecting room pairs - great for families of 5, and affordable alternative to Category 4. "Secret Porthole cabins" numbers are 6006 (less obstructed), 6506 (less obstructed), 5020, 5520, 5022, 5024 (connecting, most obstructed), 5522, 5524 (connecting, most obstructed).

Each room has a large private verandah and premium amenities and services. Your cruise itinerary might also influence your choice of accommodation. For scenic cruises, such as those in Alaska or the Norwegian fjords, a balcony might be worth the splurge to enjoy the magnificent views in relative peace. A balcony breakfast while sailing along a fjord will be an experience to remember. These fares typically don't allow you to select your cabin in advance.

Some have larger balconies with room for two mesh-and-metal chairs, a small table for drinks and two sun loungers with plenty of space to move around. The Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah on Disney cruises is the largest stateroom on the ships that are not concierge suites. Roughly 300 sq ft, it sleeps up to 5 and is the only single-room option for a family of 5 on the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder. The Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah is also the most frequently booked option for families of 5 on the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy. The Wish Tower Suite on Deck 14 and 15 is the Disney Cruise Line’s most luxurious room. It has two bedrooms, a space for children with two bunk beds, and a library that can convert into two more rooms.

The loft suite's guests can expect royal service from a dedicated concierge team, an array of curated experiences, a selection of daily treats, private elevator access. On Deck 5 are located 6 staterooms (plus 2 on Deck 6) that are oceanview but can be booked as "Category 10 inside". Deck 5's "Secret Porthole cabins" are located near the "Flounder’s Reef Nursery" and "Buena Vista Theater".

In addition, they feature unique round tub-showers (see the video above for Category 4) and large portholes with seating, making them the perfect place to relax and take in the breathtaking views. The exceptions to this are the 8As, which are similar to suites with two large portholes and plenty of space. Families and groups can enjoy Category 8A even more since many have a divider between the bed and seating area. Concierge Suites and Concierge Family Cabins offer direct access to the ship's concierge-served facilities (1 small lounge, private sundeck area with chairs, free food and drinks).

"Connecting Balcony cabins" are most adjacent balcony staterooms (excepting those with steel dividers). These balconies can be connected by folding back their dividing panels. To connect these balconies, contact your cabin attendant; to unlock the divider. Once opened, these pairs of rooms share a long (double) balcony.

Carnival Cruise Line Enhances 'Carnival Players Club' Casino Program

carnival cruise players club

Even at the highest Diamond level of its VIFP Club program, Carnival still is a little stingy with the perks. Unlike Royal Caribbean and some other lines, for instance, it doesn't give members a free cruise upon reaching this pinnacle of loyalty status. That said, Diamond status does bring a few nice privileges. In short, once you're at the Platinum level, you'll suddenly find yourself bumped to the front of the line from the moment you arrive at a ship until the moment you leave.

Helping leisure selling travel agents successfully manage their at-home business.

You can earn rewards and status for your gaming activity on board a cruise ship, and the more you wager, the more you'll accrue of both. Like most loyalty programs, you'll only earn rewards if your qualifying activity is tracked, so remember to use your players card whenever you gamble. At the lower end, Getaway cruise packages offer extras like complimentary drinks in the casino, premier boarding and special treats or gifts delivered to your room.

When you choose to apply (and are approved) for a new credit card through our site, we may receive compensation from our partners, and this may impact how or where these products appear. Please view our advertising policy and product review methodology for more information. I tested this myself by submitting proof of my Caesars Rewards Diamond and MGM Rewards Gold status. Within a few days, I got an offer for a complimentary interior room with free drinks in the casino and onboard credit.

Funds in excess of $25 USD will automatically be mailed to guests. The outstanding balance check takes anywhere from 8-10 weeks after the day of debarkation to arrive at your mailing address on file. If the check is not received after the 10 weeks, please submit a new request to oceanplayersclub.com/contact/balance-request/. Ocean Players Club will review your case regarding the check.

Carnival has also upgraded several new programs that provide guests with an enhanced cruise and casino experience. Value-added benefits, privileges and exclusive events are based on the level of play. Four different program levels include Getaway, designed for players interested in a short vacation.

How to earn free cruises and perks with casino loyalty programs on land and at sea

Priority boarding means that you'll get on board the ship more quickly than other passengers, giving you more time on your first day to enjoy its offerings. Priority access to restaurant reservations means you'll get the best table times. James (Jamie) started The Forward Cabin blog to educate readers about points, miles, and loyalty programs. He’s spoken at Princeton University and The New York Times Travel Show and has been quoted in dozens of travel publications. Your existing status with land-based casino and hotel programs may also qualify you for perks on your next cruise.

Even after uploading proof of your status levels, it’s possible for Carnival to not match your status. This prime space on Carnival is now getting an enhanced program for the Casino Players Club. The updated program is getting totally refreshed with exclusive savings, perks and more. Please upload an image of the front and back of your loyalty card, including your name and date of expiration. Try out our exclusive casino games like Matilda the Cash Cow and Wheel of Fortune®.

The refresh brings unique benefits to players onboard the cruise ship and ashore. Loyal players will receive an invitation to the Ultra level. They'll receive all the benefits of the Premier program, plus a chance to win $100,000 in cash and gifts on board. We offer Slot, Blackjack and Poker tournaments on nearly all itineraries.

Card Type

All while taking in breathtaking views and unsurpassed hospitality. So set sail with the Ocean Players Club and enjoy a truly unique gaming experience. The program includes a new "Dealer's Choice" offer with exclusive cruise savings opportunities, complimentary in-casino drinks for qualified guests, and invitation-only Carnival Players Club events.

Those figures refer to the amount wagered and not the amount won or lost, but if you (generously) assume a payout rate of 90%, then you can expect to lose about $50,000 reaching the top tier. With that in mind, the perks of status seem a lot less perky. Cash is king at the casino, but if you're wary of traveling with a big stack of bills, you may be able to play by charging your linked onboard account instead. That account settles at the end of your trip along with the rest of your folio using whatever credit card you have on file, which means you can effectively earn credit card rewards for casino gaming.

Thanks to a status match offer from Carnival Cruise Line, you could receive a free cruise once you do some very simple legwork upfront. Another common promotion is to load free slot credits to guests' accounts at the start of a trip, but these typically expire after the first day or two, so use them quickly or lose them. Cruise casinos frequently offer incentives to get you in the door, such as free bets or matched play; inquire at the host desk if you don't see them advertised elsewhere. They may be able to comp select onboard purchases like meals and shopping expenses, and they can always answer questions, help you navigate the program and explain which benefits you have and haven't earned.

Book today and rediscover all the excitement of cruising. It’s even better than you remember. I have further questions about the casino, who can I contact? For further inquiries please visit carnivalplayersclub.com. To make sure you’re making the most of your play, keep your Sail & Sign® card inserted when playing slots, or present your card to the dealer when playing at a table. Getting to the Platinum tier takes 10 cruises, assuming you always sail seven-night voyages.

carnival cruise players club

But it does bring some worthwhile perks at higher levels, and it's relatively easy to rise through the tiers of the program. If you'd like to nab everything from free drinks to free cruises from your casino play, you'll want to sign up for these cruise line casino rewards programs the next time you sail. For even greater benefits, discover how to leverage onboard benefits from your elite status elsewhere and follow these tips to get the most out of your time on the gaming floor at sea. Please ensure that these are cashed out prior to vessel debarkation.

Unredeemed points expire at the end of each voyage, so don't miss the deadline to cash out (typically the night before debarkation). Choice status lets you redeem points as free play, or as credits to your onboard expense account (with a minimum redemption of 5,000 points). You'll also begin earning Instant Cruise Rewards Certificates, which range from a $100 discount to a complimentary cruise (minus port taxes and fees). A refresh of the Carnival Players Club casino program is bringing new offers and experiences to the table.
